Worrying
I posted two quotes about worrying in the past few days and they each had so many comments I thought I would expand here.
The first was,
“Not to spoil the ending for you, but everything is going to be ok.”
Several comments included staying up all night worrying.
To me, this means stealing your present joy and replacing it with suffering.
The second was,
“If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying. If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?”
Now think about that. Take a moment.
You believe that worrying is an action. That’s why you do it. You think the act of worrying will change a result.
This is false thinking.
When you worry, overthink, perseverate on a circumstance, you more deeply embed the thoughts you have about that circumstance.
There are two things at play here. One is that you prolong the emotion that caused the pain that you are worrying about and cause yourself suffering. The actual painful moment is over. The overthinking and worrying that you do is now causing you to suffer.
While you may not have had control over the initial painful moment, you do have control over your own suffering.
Use your past life experience as proof. Has worrying ever changed anything? Has it ever made you feel better?
I am willing to bet the answer is no.
The other thing at play here is the RAS (Reticular Activating System) in your brain. This is the filter your brain has that tells it what thoughts to pay attention to. When worrying, the filter is focused on the negative thoughts. The more you focus on them, the more sense they make and the cycle goes on. You have now convinced yourself that worrying is helping solve a problem.
Worrying never solves a problem.
What does?
Changing your thoughts about a problem.
Changing your thoughts will change your emotional state.
When you have a different emotional state you can sleep,
You can problem solve from a higher perspective.
You can use your intuition, your power.
You can trust that things will work out
They may not work out exactly as you wish but who are you to know what will happen or how things should happen or when they should happen?
Trust that things unfold as they should and that you will be well whatever may happen.
Trust that you have the presence, power and belief that you will be ok.
Then see what happens.
With Love and Joy,
Sheila
PS: Let’s take this deeper so you can get some sleep for God’s sake! Remember, “Where attention goes, energy flows.” What will you decide to give your energy to? Let’s work together to make it happen!
