We are going on retreat
Hi Friends!
As my Fall 2024 retreat nears in October, I want to share some of what we will be doing for those of you who are unable to attend.
We will gather together on Thursday evening and begin by expressing gratitude to ourselves and each other. To ourselves, for taking the time, making the effort and making ourselves a priority. To each other, for coming together to hold space and support each other.
You may be wondering, what the hell happens at these retreats? I can tell you each one is different in some ways and each one is very similar in other ways. Retreat is a time to remove, or retreat, from one’s day to day life.
I believe that every one of us knows all we need to know. Our DNA holds the answers. So we know what we need to know when we are born. Then life happens. Belief systems of generations before become imbedded in our subconscious. Societal norms and pressures have an impact on our development. Relationships shape us. Then we start questioning and not knowing.
When we go on retreat, we leave all that behind. We get to the heart of ourselves. We become reconnected with our mind, body and spirit. We begin to answer our own questions, rather than look outside of us for guidance.
We begin to trust ourselves, we are quiet so that we can hear ourselves and the whispers that are so often drowned out when we are living our busy lives.
We close retreat on Sunday evening with a ceremony commemorating all we have learned about ourselves and each other. We make a commitment to take action on what we know to be true when we return to our every day lives, and we return feeling more centered, at peace and with a resolution to begin again.
This all sounds heavy and vulnerable and it is. It’s also freeing and fun. We eat great food, get massages, go to the beach, the hot tub and the pool. We laugh and we cry. We make lifelong friends with others and with ourselves.
If you have never been on retreat, I encourage you to go to one. There are several types of retreats, including:
A retreat by yourself
A retreat with friends
A retreat that is led by someone else
Next week I will explain more in depth about each type of retreat and give you some ideas.
For now, here is a taste of some of the questions we will explore next week. Maybe you will come along with us energetically and journal these questions for yourself.
1. What words do you speak to others that you need to listen to yourself?
2. What is the promise of this lifetime?
3. What do you most want to understand about yourself?
Enjoy!
With Love and Joy,
Sheila
I’d love to work with you 1:1 to uncover your own deepest knowing and desires.
